Seattle - In preparation of what is expected to be a solid holiday selling season, online retail giant Amazon.com said it plans to hire more than 50,000 employees to fill seasonal positions at its fulfillment centers across the U.S.
In addition, the company will open 19 new fulfillment centers worldwide in time to support this year's holiday demand.
Amazon currently employs more than 20,000 people across its 40 U.S. fulfillment centers and claims to pay its full-time, permanent employees 30% more than what traditional retail store employees earn.
