Amherst, Mass. - AMS Imports has developed a new collection of Scottish Tartan rugs via a recently inked partnership with Scotland-based textiles and ceramics company Anta, and is presenting it for the first time during High Point Market.
This new collection will feature area rugs, fabrics, and throws incorporating the traditional Scottish plaid pattern.
"We are always looking to introduce the newest designs to the American market," said Anne Schewe, president and founder of AMS Imports. "This type of plaid design being made in Scotland is unlike anything we have offered before."
Founded by Annie and Lachlan Stewart, Anta is located on Scotland's northeast coast. The company's carpets and area rugs are similar to the original flat weaves manufactured in Scotland in the 18th Century. The pure wool tartan carpet was developed in 1985 when Anta was commissioned to replace an original stair carpet in Inverness that had worn out after 55 years.
The rugs are made from British sheep wool and coated with Teflon to provide a level of stain resistance. The Teflon also makes the rugs easier to clean. The carpets are backed with non-slip wool felt and bound with pure wool binding.
Spanning a wide range of traditional and contemporary designs, the new Anta rug collection for AMS Imports is available in 24 designs and in both standard and custom sizes.
The collection's throw offerings - also suitable as blankets, bed coverings and curtains - are woven in Scotland. The yarn is dyed before it is woven to ensure colors consistency.
We would love your feedback!
