Modal fibers now available in color

HTT Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 9/20/2012 11:16:51 AM

Lenzing, Austria - Lenzing announced its Modal fibers are now available in colors as well as black for the first time.
Dyeing "is no longer necessary because the color pigments are embedded directly in the fiber matrix," the company said.
The color option does not detract from the fiber's eco-friendly process, it added. "Tests prove that processing Lenzing Modal Color requires up to 80% less energy and saves up to 75% of water (in jet dyeing) in comparison to standard fibers," it said.
Modal fiber is produced in Austria from beechwood in a carbon neutral process that recovers up to 95% of the processing chemicals are recovered during production.
Lenzing is also changing the slogan for Modal, which had been "Makes the World a Softer Place." The new slogan is "Carbon Neutral Softness by Edelweiss Technology."
