Units shipped up, price points down at ShopNBC

Minneapolis - Home was one of the top performers at ShopNBC during the second quarter.
For the quarter ended July 28, net loss narrowed at ValueVision - ShopNBC's corporate entity - to $3.8 million from $4.5 million in the year-ago period. Sales rose 2.3% to $135.2 million, with double-digit growth in the categories of home, watches, fashion and beauty.
Net shipped units increased 7.0% in the second quarter versus the year-ago period and are up 12.7% year to date. The average price point declined 2.9% to $102 - which the company attributed to lower average price points in the best-performing product categories.
For the first six months, net loss was $12.6 million, an improvement from a net loss of $33.4 million in last year's first half. Sales slipped 1.4% to $271.7 million.
