Dillard's profit nearly doubles

Little Rock, Ark. - Dillard's net income ballooned during the second quarter on improved margins and lower operating costs.
Net income for the quarter ended July 28 jumped 97% to $31.0 million, or 63 cents per share.
Sales rose 3.0% to $1.488 billion. Home was cited as one of the weakest performing categories during the quarter. Overall comp also increased 3%.
