Ousted Tuesday Morning chief files discrimination complaint

HTT Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 8/3/2012 11:03:17 AM

Dallas - Former Tuesday Morning president and ceo Kathleen Mason - whose tenure was abruptly terminated in June - has filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleging she was let go after informing the board of her breast cancer.
"Current quarterly estimates were down at the company, but this is a woman who had proven to be a more-than-effective leader and prepared the company to weather the current economic downturn," said attorney Rogge Dunn of Dallas' Clouse Dunn LLP, who is representing Mason.
Because Tuesday Morning offered her a severance package heavy on medical benefits along with a multi-year consultancy clause, according to Dunn, "The board made it clear she was not being fired 'for cause' and the company wanted to retain her expertise for another 11½ years. One has to question why she was removed from her job."
