Dalton, Ga. - The creative finalists for season seven of realty series "HGTV Design Star" have chosen three Karastan rugs to be featured on the cable program.
On the show, 12 competitive interior designers, contractors, stylists and artists offer their ideas and expertise to conduct makeovers on challenging spaces.
In episode 1, Karastan's modern Dechy Taupe rug is being used to "pull together" a conversation area in front of a fireplace in a large bedroom, and the company's Mystical Zebra rug is selected to "deliver energy as the centerpiece" of a contemporary lounge/den area, Karastan said.
In episode 4, Karastan's Bristol Lane Gray rug "brings earth-tone chic to a cozy living room."
The rugs and their settings are available for viewing online at the show's site, http://www.hgtv.com/design-star.
The show's judges, HGTV designer celebrities Genevieve Gorder and Vern Yip, are joined by a visiting celebrity judge each week. Together, they decide which contestants remain in the competition. In addition, show fans are invited to vote online for their favorite designers.
In the end, the winning designer will land his or her own show on HGTV.
"Seeing young designers discover Karastan products is exciting," said Steve Roan, vp, Karastan Rugs. "This show is about being inventive, having an eye for good design and creating an inviting and livable space. Those are all the energies that Karastan brings to each of its rugs."
Karastan offered further descriptions of its three rugs on the HGTV Design Star show.
- Dechy Taupe is one of the clean lined-geometrics, painterly abstracts and mid-century modern designs that make up Karastan's Artois Collection. It is woven on Wilton looms in the U.S.A. of nylon yarn.
- Mystical Zebra is a nature-inspired pattern in dark chocolate on a field of cream. It is made of tough Karalon-branded nylon.
- Bristol Lane Gray is a Regency-inspired fret pattern that is both modern and elegant. Part of Karastan's Carmel Collection, it features octagonal medallions in caramel, ivory and beige on a gray field. It is woven on Wilton looms in the U.S.A. of nylon yarn.
