Toys"R"Us chairman and ceo, Nordstrom Direct prez to Keynote Shop.org Summit

Home Textiles Today Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 5/29/2012 12:56:58 PM

Washington - At Shop.org's upcoming annual Summit event this fall, two industry executives -- Jerry Storch, chairman and ceo of Toys"R"Us, and Jamie Nordstrom, president of Nordstrom Direct -- will be the keynote speakers.

Scheduled this year at Denver's Colorado Convention Center from Sept.10 to 12, the summit caters to retailers of e-commerce, digital and multichannels. Shop.org is a division of the National Retail Federation.

"This is truly a ‘win' for our digital community and the thousands of retail executives who will take part in the summit this year. We are thrilled to welcome both Jerry and Jamie to our stage," said Vicki Cantrell, National Retail Federation svp for communities and executive director of Shop.org. "Both will be instrumental in elevating the dialogue at the Summit as they bring first-hand insight into the ever-changing world of retail and e-commerce. Our audience will greatly benefit from the expertise and insight of these retail visionaries."

Jerry Storch became Toys"R"Us' chairman and ceo in February 2006 when he joined the company. He is responsible for leveraging the strength of the chain's brand and positioning it for growth over the long term. Storch is credited with leading the growth of the Toys"R"Us e-commerce business on a global basis, and in 2009 added to the company's U.S. portfolio of online brands with the acquisitions of eToys.com, KBToys.com, Toys.com and FAO.com. In 2011, the company's e-commerce business reached $1 billion in sales. He is said to have championed the company's omni-channel strategy, creating a seamless shopping experience for customers wherever, whenever and however they wish to shop.

Jamie Nordstrom is executive vice president and president of Nordstrom Direct for Nordstrom Inc. He supports Nordstrom.com, mobile, catalogs and fulfillment center operations and, together with the executive team, has helped lead the company's efforts to improve the customer experience in store and online. Working with the Nordstrom Direct team, he has helped accelerate e-commerce growth by building upon the company's multichannel foundation and better defining service online through greater speed and convenience, a broader merchandise selection, and a richer, more personalized experience.
