New York - Martha Stewart has been elected non-executive chairman of the board of Martha Stewart Omnimedia, succeeding Charles Koppelman in the role.
Stewart rejoined the board last September. She had been banned for five years from serving on the board or as as a company executive as part of her settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission over her conviction for inside trading.
"I look forward to working closely with our directors and our management team as we focus on the future, capitalizing on the strength of our brand and our amazing customer connection to continue building our business so that it realizes its full and considerable potential," Stewart said of today's announcement.
