Dillard's pleased with 1Q

Little Rock, Ark. - Home and furniture were lagging categories in a strong first quarter for Dillard's, which saw profit jump 24% to $95.0 million, or $1.89 per share.
Revenue from merchandise sales (which excludes the company's CDI construction business) rose 5% to $1.522 billion for the quarter ended April 28. Comps were up 5%.
Total sales, including CDI, increased 5.4% to $1.549 billion.
"We are happy to report a very strong start to 2012 with our seventh consecutive quarter of increased same store sales as well as record setting earnings and earnings per share performances," said ceo William Dillard II.
