Dollar General Hits 10,000-store mark

Dollar General opened its 10,000th store on March 30. The unit in Merced, Calif. is also one of the retailer's first stores in the state. The first Dollar General store opened in Springfield, Ky., in 1955. The retailer now operates in 39 states.
