Grocery exec new Dollar General store ops vp

Goodlettsville, Tenn. - Dollar General has named Gregory Spakes executive vp for store operations, effective March 19. He was previously a division president for Safeway, where he spent 34 years of his career.
At 9,900-store Dollar General, he will report directly to chairman and ceo Rick Dreiling.
