Rio Home Fashions, Iona Crawford partner for fashion basic bedding collection

Southampton, N.Y. - Rio Home Fashions, a bedding source for basic and memory foam goods and other home textiles products, has signed a licensing partnership with Vogue-UK designer Iona Crawford to co-create a new lifestyle program for the home.

Marking Crawford's foray into the home category, the venture was crafted by Prince of Scots - which represents Crawford and aims at merging "technology and fashion," the companies said.

"Our concept with be different and upscale from what is offered in the market place," said Glen Sun, owner, RIO, "In a tough economy we will give customers the opportunity to buy smarter. Fashion, basic, comfort, and technology will all be in one product."

The new line is inspired by Scotland's natural beauty, Crawford said, and "will transform basic product into lifestyle collections with more function for the home."

The collection is set to hit retail this fall in North America and Asia. Rio's licensing agreement with Crawford includes the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan, and China.

Crawford introduced her lifestyle look to New York's fashion runway at the "Dressed to Kilt" event in 2011 -- her silk "Farquhar Dress" from the Ailsa Collection said to have been among the highlights. Later in the year, Crawford was nominated for the Young Designer of the Year Scottish Fashion Awards, where one judge described her collections as "romantic" and "will make one want to fall in love again."
