Bed Bath & Beyond pilots new concept in NYC

Face Values and Beyond opens on Upper West Side

Bed Bath & Beyond New York – Bed Bath & Beyond’s new test format seems to be a mash-up of Duane Reade and a Target urban store.

Called Face Values and Beyond, the store opened recently on the Upper West Side at 250 W. 90th St. and Broadway.

According to a Forbes report written by retail consultant Walter Loeb, the ground floor carries cosmetics, fragrances and health & beauty aids such as cotton swabs – the kind of merchandise offered in BBB’s Harmon Face Values format. An area new checkout offers fresh milk, juices and yogurt.

The lower floor features sections for bedding, bath, kitchen and closet, among others. The merchandise appears to be geared to with apartment living.

“It was, in short, a condensed and well-selected assortment of a BBBY store,” said Loeb.

Earlier this year, Bed Bath & Beyond announced it would launch a series of pilots, although Face Values and Beyond was not mentioned among them.
