Gordmans gearing up for growth

Miami-Midwest retailer Gordmans presented yesterday at the 14th Annual ICR XChange Conference here. Founded in 1915, the retailer operates 74 stores in 16 states and is poised for future expansion.

The apparel and home décor retailer outlined merchandising and growth strategies during its presentation here yesterday. Home décor represents about 30% of revenue and includes a vast assortment of items from wall décor to accent furniture and tabletop items. Across all categories, the retailer carries 100,000 skus at moderate prices.

The company announced plans to open 9 stores this year and will be entering 4 new markets. Further expansion is planned as the company sees a potential for 300 to 500 stores.
