TJX taps MacMillan to head European division

Framingham, Mass. - The TJX Companies Inc. has made several senior management changes, naming Michael MacMillian chief of European operations and promoting Richard Sherr and Ken Canestrari in key U.S. posts.
MacMillan becomes senior vp, TJX Europe after heading The Marmaxx Group, the company's largest division.
"Michael, a UK national, knows TJX inside and out, having held key executive positions at both TJX Canada and The Marmaxx Group across a variety of disciplines with considerable international experience," said Carol Meyrowitz, ceo of TJX.
Sherr returns to The Marmaxx Group as senior vp, having most recently held the post of president, HomeGoods. Replacing him there is Canestrari, who has been with The TJX Companies since 1997 and served in progressively senior roles in finance and operations at The Marmaxx Group and at the corporate level. He is being promoted from his most recent post of coo HomeGoods.
Now reporting to Ernie Herman, TJX president, are: MacMillan, Sherr, Nan Stutz, senior evp, group president; and senior evp Jerome Rossi, whose responsibilities include real estate, logistics, procurement and e-commerce.
In related news, Paul Sweetenham, formerly president of T.K.Maxx, is leaving the company. Under his leadership, T.K. Maxx "built its brand and presence in the UK and Ireland, HomeSense was launched, and we expanded into Germany and Poland," Meyrowitz noted. "We wish Paul continued success and all good things in the future."
