Calico Corners expands fabric program with designer Thomas Paul with 20 new styles

Kennett Square, Pa. - Calico Corners-Calico Home stores has expanded its line with Thomas Paul Fernez, adding 20 new decorative prints inspired by the designer's love of antique engravings of flora, fauna and oceanic life.

The new printed designs for Calico Corners by Thomas Paul, as he is more commonly known, include: Oceana, featuring sea creatures and crustaceans; Neptune, a pattern of stylized conch shells; Skimmer, a pattern of dragonflies in wingtip-to-wingtip formation; Botany, a pretty fabric of summer blossoms, butterflies and dragonflies; and Pattern Perch, which features birds and their nests, etched in a bower of flowers.

Retail prices range from $33 to $39 per yard for these cotton and cotton/linen prints.

"My collections are always about mixing things up," said Paul. "The inspiration can come from anywhere-art, music, fashion, nature, history. The idea is to somehow make all of these different inspirations fit together through color, scale and style."

Added Lori Cropp, merchandise manager for Calico stores: "Calico customers love Thomas Paul fabrics-they're fresh, fun and they can absolutely transform a traditional piece of furniture, such as wing chair or a camelback sofa. While it's not everybody's style, we love the contrast of a modern Thomas Paul fabric on a classic frame."

She added that many of the graphic fabrics lend themselves for decorative pillows "to punch up a sofa. Some of the patterns are even great for kids' or teen rooms--they're bright, hip and sophisticated enough to grow with a child."
