Costco profit up modestly

Issaquah, Wash. - Costco's net income rose 2.5% during the warehouse club's fiscal first quarter, which ended Nov. 20.
Net income was $320 million, or 73 cents per share, compared to $312 million, or 71 cents per share in the year-ago period.
Total sales climbed 13% to $21.18 billion, with comps up 10%. U.S. same-store sales rose 10%. Excluding gasoline sales, U.S. comps were up 6%.
