Washington D.C. - With online holiday shopping expected to boom again this year, retailers are kicking off their specials as soon as Thanksgiving Day.
According to Shop.org's eHoliday Survey, conducted by consumer research firm BigResearch, half (51.0%) of online retailers surveyed will offer promotions specifically on Thanksgiving Day and eight in 10 (78.4%) will have special promotions on Cyber Monday.
Additionally, 92.2% of online merchants will offer special promotions at some point during the Thanksgiving weekend.
"In addition to many free shipping promotions, there will be plenty of extra ways to save on Cyber Monday, including percentages off entire sites and online-only sales," said Vicki Cantrell, Shop.org executive director.
On Cyber Monday online retailers will offer coupons/percent-off deals (45.0%) and limited-time promotions (37.5%). Three in 10 (30.0%) will offer free standard shipping with conditions and 15.0% will feature a free gift with purchase.
More than half of shoppers with access to the Internet at work - 58.4%, or 75.9 million people - said they will shop from their offices.
Online retailers will promote deals through CyberMonday.com starting at midnight on Nov. 28 with Deals of the Hour highlighting a different retail promotion every 60 minutes.
