Muttenz, Switzerland - Two years in development, a new wrinkle-free technology for cotton fabrics created by specialty chemical company Clariant in conjunction with Cotton Incorporated of America is ready for launch to the marketplace.
The sustainable finishing, dubbed Foam Eco Care, is being called by Clariant "a breakthrough advanced resin-based foam finish application formula that results in increased productivity, improved energy usage as well as improved abrasion resistance and fabric strength, and reduced chemical usage without compromising durable press ratings."
Clariant noted it has seen the benefits from its similar and recently developed Premium Eco Care finish, which offers an environmentally friendlier wrinkle-free finish.
"You could say that Clariant's Foam Eco Care proves the old adage that two heads are better than one," said Ken Greeson, senior textile chemist at Cotton Inc., headquartered in Cary, N.C. "This new process has major advantages over conventional pad application and we are sure it will be welcomed right across the industry. We used the same cotton poplin and denim fabrics throughout the trials and used Gaston CFS (chemical foam system) application technology."
We would love your feedback!
