Scarborough, Maine - Maine Street Living has partnered with artist and children's book author Ed Heck on a new home textiles line called the "World of Ed Heck."

Theline debuted at the New York Home Fashions MarketĀ  this week.
Heck's style of art features humorous, colorful and bold designs - his fish have huge popping eyes, his dogs wear sweet expressions and big floppy ears - and the work has wide appeal. His paintings are shown in galleries internationally, including a tour this month of 12 galleries in Germany. Early readers are big fans of his many books, such as "Big Fish Little Fish".
The Scarborough, Maine-based company, which offers home textiles, rugs, mattress toppers and gifts, and has a showroom at 314 Fifth Ave., New York City, said Heck's Penguins design is one of its most popularly received bedding look and the book it is based on, "Color-by-Penguins" will be packaged together with the bed in a bag set.
In addition to bedding, Maine Street Living also has towels, infant and youth sleep wear, bath, area rugs and travel-related items in development for the Heck line.
"We are very excited about the energy that Ed Heck brings to our line of textile-related products in bed, bath and floor coverings. You definitely know the design is an Ed Heck because his artwork is so brilliantly simple, bright and fun. You look at his designs and can't help but smile," said Allison Garrison, vice president of Maine Street Living.
The packaging will feature Heck's artwork from his books and his paintings as well. Rollout events will include art displays and book signings featuring the artist.
Ed Heck line is expected to be at U.S. mass retailers at end of the third quarter.
Maine Street Living is also the supplier of soy-based EnviroTech memory-foam, which has performed well at U.S. and Canadian retailers. The product will be in U.K. and Germany markets at the end of 2011.
