JQueen pushes ahead

Home Textiles Today Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 9/22/2011 2:05:31 PM

At the New York Market - As JQueen New York's brand is beginning to make its way into the department and specialty store channels, the multi-category supplier is expanding its bath offerings to include basic accessories.
Broadening out from its master bedroom expertise, JQueen has also created a brand called 37 West (named for its address on 5th Avenue), which features bright prints. It has also added JQueen Kids to its stable.
"We can do a lot of different lifestyles," said Don Whittam, evp of merchandising.
Part of the company's strategy is what founder Julie Brady calls "narrow and deep" - strong relationships with a select group of suppliers.
"We are decorators - we're not multi-piece bed-in-a-bag guys," she said. "We do over-sized and over-filled and mean it, really mean it."
Next year, JQueen is branching into fabric, shipping initially FOB from Shanghai. The line will be wide-width and multi-purpose, said Brady.
