Walmart Brazil, which operates nearly 500 stores there, is only the country's third largest chain. Its chief competitors in the country are Carrefour, with roughly the same number of stores; Lojas Americas, with 550 discount general merchandise stores and online retailing; and Brasileriade Distribucicao, whose 1,000 store portfolio includes hypermarkets, furniture stores and ecommerce.
