Registrations up for summer Las Vegas Market

Las Vegas - Pre-registration for the summer Las Vegas Market is tracking 14% ahead of the most recent winter show in January, organizers said.
Hotel bookings also are up in advance of the Aug. 1-5 market, officials said. According to a press release from the World Market Center, the market has sold nearly 80% of its hotel inventory to attendees. The pick-up rate is outpacing the same period last year by 36%.
Officials said that "significantly" more retailers and designers are expected at this summer's show than were at the summer 2010 event.
"This is certainly encouraging news for our industry and our customers," said Bob Maricich, ceo of International Market Centers, parent company of the WMC. "It has been a very challenging summer at retail, and we are excited that buyers are apparently searching for new products and ideas at Las Vegas Market."
