New York - Same-store sales rose 4.2% last week, with comps up 4.6% in the discount sector and 3.3% in the department store channel, according the Johnson Redbook Retail Sales Index.
Most retailers met plan during the week ended June 18, with Father's Day shoppers crossing over into other product categories, according to Redbook analyst Catlin Levis.
"Temperatures finally have warmed up to seasonal levels and summer apparel was very active in both discount and department stores," she said.
