Stephen Pond, the entrepreneur who founded HTT and its sister publications, provided a gift of $50,000 in seed money to create the endowment. He has challenged the industry to match his gift so the Carole Sloan Fund can reach its goal of at least $105,000.

Contributions to the fund, which are tax deductible, can be made to "EFFI (Educational Foundation of the Fashion Industries) On the check, note "Carole Sloan Scholar Fund" at FIT, 227 W 27th St. Room C204, New York, NY 10001.
