Big Lots' Sales up 3.8% in 4Q

COLUMBUS, OHIO - Despite flat comps, Big Lots' fourth quarter sales rose 3.8% to $1.45 billion. Home, furniture and seasonal were the best performers.
     The company said poor weather conditions during the last three weeks of January hampered same-store sales. The quarter ended Jan. 29.
     Preliminary sales tally for the full fiscal year is $4.9 billion, up 5.0%. Comps for the year were up 2.5%.
     Big Lots is scheduled to report full financial results March 3.
