Welspun's Sharma to lead Deesan

Mumbai - Industry exec Anurag Sharma has become the new president and ceo Deesan, the textiles division of Patel Brothers, which also has interests in education, oil refining, infrastructure, aviation.
"After 12 years of long and exciting career with Welspun, I have decided to move on and add different dimensions to my personal life and my career," he said.
He added: "I remember having joined Welspun in 1998 when our total turnover was around $20 million, and when I leave it, it is little over $500 million, with an impressive bottom line."
Deesan has been involved with cooperative farming for several years and now cotton is being cultivated on more than 100,000 acres of land under the Deesan umbrella, he said.
The company's facilities are located in Shirpur, roughly 280 kilometers northeast of Mumbai. Deesan produces towels, sheets, knitted fabrics and garments, woven fabrics and garments, yarn-dyed shirting fabrics and garment and cotton yarn.
Sharma will be based at headquarters in Mumbai.
