Belk investing $150 mil in IT

HTT Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 11/22/2010 10:41:14 AM

Charlotte, N.C. - Regional department store retail Belk Inc. will spend $150 million to overhaul its information technology infrastructure, a three-year process.

The project focuses on upgrading Belk's merchandise planning and replenishment, store point-of-sale and e-commerce functions. The company plans to add approximately 75 IT positions at its corporate office here this year and next year in addition to the 39 merchandising positions previously announced.

"Along with re-branding, it is one of the key investments that we are making in the company to position us for future growth and success," said said Johnny Belk, president and chief operating officer.

Belk lists job postings for open positions on its Web site at: http://www.belk.com/AST/Misc/Belk_Stores/About_Us/Careers_at_Belk/CareerOpportunities/CorporatePositions.jsp. The majority of the new positions for next year will be posted by January.
