HTT Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 11/8/2010 2:47:38 PM

Gonzales, La. - Propelled by big growth in its NoJo division as well a new shipments and improvement replenishment orders in the core bedding and blanket side, Crown Crafts saw earnings nearly double during the recent second quarter.

Net income from the quarter ended Sept. 26 was $1.2 million, or 12 cents per share, compared to a profit of $803,0000, or 8 cents per share in last year's second quarter.

"In the second quarter of fiscal 2011, we enjoyed steadily increasing customer demand and positive market response to new designs across our various product lines," said E. Randall Chestnut, Chairman, president and ceo.

Sales from branded products in its NoJo business - which includes Disney, Nautica Kids and Sesame Street, among others - rose 33%.

Total sales climbed 9.2% to $23.7 million.
