Former Bibb owner fights on in Connecticut's gubernatorial contest

HTT Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 11/4/2010 10:54:51 AM

Hartford, Conn. - Connecticut's Secretary of State declared his opponent the winner of Tuesday's race for governor, but former home textiles executive Tom Foley today re-iterated his refusal to concede.

Foley, a Republican, and Democratic opponent Dan Malloy each claimed victory in a very tight race. The final tally, according to the Secretary of State, put Malloy ahead of Foley by 3,100 votes. Foley's camp contends their man is running ahead by less than 2,000 votes - the thresholf in Connecticut for triggering a recount. The Secretary of State has until Nov. 25 to release the official vote count.

Foley, through his NTC investment group, owned a majority stake in now-defunct Bibb Company, which declared bankruptcy in 1996 and was ultimately sold to Dan River, also now out of business.
