Carolinas IFDA plans High Point design walk

HTT Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 9/8/2010 3:38:00 PM

High Point, N.C. -- In its effort to raise funds for the home furnishings designers of the future, The Carolinas Chapter of the International Design & Furnishings Association (IFDA) will sponsor its second "Walk for Design Education" here on Saturday, Sept. 25.

The event is part of a national campaign by IFDA. "Design is a key element in all aspects of home furnishings and we hope the High Point community as well as members of the industry will join the Carolinas Walk in support of those who need our help now more than ever," said national IFDA/EF Walk chairman Wilma Hammett.

The Carolinas Chapter was last year's top Walk fundraising group last year; the chapter said it will contribute proceeds to the Ruth Clark Furniture Design Scholarship Fund and the Raymond Waites Design Competition Fund. These are two of the funds that IFDA helps administer toward annual disbursements of seven scholarships and four grants.

The Walk, which will begin at 9:00 am at the 200 Steele building, will encompass a range of historic, cultural and home industry sites, followed by a series of prize drawings back at 200 Steele.

The IFDA Educational Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. For information on how to register for the Walk, or make a tax deductible contribution and become a Carolinas Partner, go to ifdaef.org or call Bonnie L. Peterson, FIFDA at (336) 545-7532.
