Sunham readies market intros

HTT Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 9/7/2010 1:22:45 PM

New York - Flatter beds with bedspreads and coverlets setting the pace are important directions for the bedding segment at Sunham Home Fashions.

But while these are directional, the company is offering nine new styles in matelasses to spreads to multi-piece sets and bed-in-a-bag all are featured - as well as satin in bedspreads. Quilts, a company core business, are featured in a variety of lifestyles with designs becoming more contemporary.

A new sheet collection is highlighted by designs from Italian supplier Bellino and made in China with 250 to 300 count cotton, woven in the Bellino constructions at $79 to $99 for queen sets.

In rugs, Sunham is emphasizing six new constructions and yarn systems with memory foam insets for added comfort in kitchen, bath and accent segments. Performance yarns and luxury bath pieces including tufted styles as well as heat set and high twist constructions are part of the mix.

The four rug collections include Brio, a printed shag, plush prints, Grafitti, a sculptured cotton with international tribal design overtones, Structure, neoclassic in design, more formal and Farmhouse, casual and practical.

Looking at the broad picture, Jane Bognaki, president, said: "The good news is that business is coming around, and we are fortunate to be able to build expanded partnership relationships that are stronger than ever. We're emphasizing innovation and new product development and building a strong team of merchants."

In addition, the company, already the home textiles licensee for Lacoste and Angela Adams, "needs brands as we expand our portfolio."

The company has completed its move to 136 Madison Avenue, which houses its Sunham showroom and the Lacoste and Angela Adams showrooms as well as the office
facility. Lacoste and Angela Adams had been at 185 Madison and the office was at 308 Fifth Avenue. The company now has 16,000 square feet on the 16th floor at its new location, compared with 12,000 square feet the Fifth Avenue address.
