Comps track up in June's 3rd week

New York - Father's Day shopping and easy comparisons to last year helped lift same-store sales 3.2% last week following a 2.7% gain a week earlier.
The discount channel's comps roared ahead 4.2% for the week ended June 19, while the department store segment posted a more modest 1.1% same-store sales increase.
"Summer arrived on Monday with warmer weather across most regions," said Catlin Levis, Rebook analyst.
"Some seasonal merchandise such as swimwear, fans, air conditioners and patio furniture continued to improve," she added.
