Consolidated Fibers expands into Latin America

Charlotte, N.C. – Fifty-year-old consumer fiber company Consolidated Fibers, which produces and provides fibers for various industries in the U.S. including home textiles, has established a new division – International and Technical Fibers.
The international segment will initially focus on supplying staple and continuous filament fibers to Latin America, and the technical fibers segment will work with producers and clients to develop and supply cost-effective fiber solutions, primarily in nonwoven end uses.
Heading the effort is Paul Latten, who has been promoted to division president. He joined Consolidated Fibers almost one year ago after more than 20 years in fiber research and development, manufacturing and business in the United States, Mexico and elsewhere worldwide.
Latten said, “With regard to innovation, there has been relatively little coming from the fibers industry in the last decade. Our intent is to disrupt status quo in our own thinking and in the minds of fiber consumers. There is excess fiber manufacturing capacity but a shortage of practical and affordable ideas.”
