Orian expands S.C. distribution center

ANDERSON, S.C. —

As part of an $8 million capital investment plan announced last year, machine-woven-area and accent-rug supplier Orian Rugs is beginning construction on a 130,000-square-foot addition to its manufacturing and distribution center. Currently, the center measures 420,000 square feet.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, the company celebrated its 25th anniversary in business.

The new space will be equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, said the company.

These recent upgrades are intended to accommodate Orian's aggressive growth plans, as well as facilitate improvements in the logistics and process flow within the plant, which is located here at headquarters.

In related news, Orian Rugs recently hired Dennis Kreson as its national sales manager for the Calypso Rug Division. He replaces David Starr, who left the company in December to become the Southeast regional business manager for Sugar Valley, Ga.-based Mohawk Home.

Kreson reports to Don Newton, senior vice resident of sales and marketing. Kreson most recently worked as the area rug buyer for CCA Global.
