WESTPOINT STEVENS

-- Home Textiles Today, 3/30/2001 12:00:00 AM

New York (212) 930-2000

Eleven new patterns-four in the Grand Patrician collection and seven in the Patrician Answer Bed line-along with the rollout of the new Disney license lead the way. Belladonna, Jewel Chenille, Kashmir and Zephyr will be part of the Seduction, Grand Patrician line, just above the recently established Egyptian cotton line. All are 310-count ensembles made from a blend of 70 percent Egyptian cotton and 30 percent modal. Price points will range from $199 to $299. New packaging will also be introduced.

Belladonna is a large-scale multi-colored brocade-like floral. Soft bronze and gold are rendered on a pewter satin background while decorative weaves are used for the flowers to create maximum detail. The coordinated bed skirt and decorative pillow will be offered in a small scale two-tone woven stripe.

A chenille and tapestry weave construction highlight Jewel Chenille. Multi-colored ornamental motifs with a subtle oriental influence are set against a soft gold chenille background. A solid-color micro-suede will embellish the coordinates, presenting a contrast of matte and sheen.

Kashmir is a jacquard paisley set on a strie wrap, making the ensemble both dramatic and opulent. Rich garnet jewel tones are married with gold and plum accents. Velvet is also mixed in by mitering the duvet and is also used on the decorative pillows.

Zephyr mixes a slubby, silk-like fabric with a crushed double weave cloth which gives plenty of dimension to the geometric design. The double weave gives the bedding a washed, relaxed feeling while the whole collection portrays a sexy modern look.

Dekorai, Cobblestone, L'Arabesque, Allegria, Cynthia's Floral, Geurlain and Spring Blossom are all new for the Patrician Answer Bed line. Retail price points will range from $199 to $299.

Dekorai is an engineered leaf design done with heat transfer on a jacquard cloth. Cobblestone is a large-scale colorblock plaid with a matelasse texture woven into the cloth. L'Arabesque features metallic silvers and bronzes, while Allegria is a contemporary scroll motif. A traditional formal floral with a scrolling vine motif adorning the sheets makes up Cynthia's Floral. Geurlain features chenille accents and an all-over scroll design with a printed paisley motif, while a chenille tapestry look and printed sheets make up Spring Blossom.

A complete line of Disney licensed bedding, featuring Mickey, Princess, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger and Buzz Lightyear, will also debut under the Disney Home label. A printed collection for each character will be available as will a collection of complementary solid sheeting. Ranging from twin to full for the printed ensembles, construction will be a 120-count 70/30 polyester/cotton blend. Seven different character patterns will be among the introductions, with some characters getting one or two ensembles, depending upon their popularity. To accommodate adult interest, the solids will range from twin to queen in a 50/50 blend. New packaging utilizing Granimals-style color coding has also been developed for Disney Home.
