Family Dollar Promotes Sullivan and Zucker

Matthews, N.C. — Neighborhood discounter Family Dollar Stores has promoted Barry Sullivan to evp - store operations; he continues to report to James Kelly, president and coo of the 6,400-store neighborhood discount chain.

Sullivan joined Family Dollar in 2002 as vp, Northeast Division. In 2004, he became vp, Urban East Division, and in 2005, he was promoted to svp, store operations. His prior executive retail experience was at drugstore operator Eckerd Corporation.

The retailer also has promoted Scott Zucker to vp - merchandising operations, reporting to Robert George, evp and chief merchandising officer.

Zucker will oversee several departments, including: category management, pricing, merchandise solutions, vendor management and visual merchandising. He joined Family Dollar in 2006 as divisional vp - pricing. Previously he was a buyer with Belk and then a retail consultant at BearingPoint.
