New York —
Tapestries and needlepoint are highlights of the new looks for fall and holiday at Pierre Deux.
Whether antiques or reproductions, the specialty retailer has translated them into carpets, upholstered furniture, wall hangings and table runners as a texture and design statement.
Needlepoint details are featured on Aubusson pillows and updated versions for carpet bags.
The color palette reflects the harvest theme with ochre, burgundy, amber, russet, forest green, clay, claret and sapphire blue.
As part of its growing licensing program, in September Pierre Deux will launch its most extensive collection of wallcoverings with licensee Motif Designs, which will includes more than 100 individual designs.
To celebrate its new pet collection, the company will sponsor its 2008 design contest with the theme "Posh Pets, Design Challenge for a Cause."
The challenge will focus on 20 design contestants, representing each Pierre Deux location, who will create a pet product of their choosing using Pierre Deux fabrics. Each market will host a meet-and-greet shopping event where 10% of the day's sales will be donated to the local animal therapy or service program. The national winner, receiving the most online votes, will be featured in an early 2009 Pierre Deux catalog.
To support the local organizations, Pierre Deux Cadeau for Care cards will be sold online from Oct. 1 to Nov.14 with $15 of each $20 card benefiting the local program. Customers will receive a 20% discount for purchases from Nov.17 through Nov. 30.
