Wilansky to head Filene's Basement

COLUMBUS, OH —

Heywood Wilansky has been appointed president and ceo of Filene's Basement, parent company Value City Department Stores has announced.

Wilansky was president and ceo of The Bon-Ton Stores from 1995 to 2000. Prior to that he was with May Department Stores for more than 19 years, last serving as president, ceo of the Foley's division. Earlier, he was president, ceo of Filene's. He's also held executive posts at Lord & Taylor and Hecht's.

Wilansky replaces Alan Schlensinger, who resigned Jan. 6

Value City operates 116 discount stores under the names Value City and Schottenstein Stores, 126 DSW Shoe Warehouse stores, and 20 Filene's Basement stores. It has buying offices here, Boston and Los Angeles.
