Rockland Mills Heads to New Factory

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 8/20/2007 12:00:00 AM

Rockland Mills will relocate its drapery lining manufacturing facilities to a state of the art 400,000-plus-square-foot plant in Bamberg, S.C.

The company currently has a slightly larger manufacturing facility here, "but with new engineering of the existing production flow — and new flow and equipment — the move offers greater efficiency and cost savings," said Stanley Fradin, president.

As an example of efficiencies, Fradin cited new equipment "that now produces two yards for every yard run because it is double width, allowing it to be used wide or split." Additionally he pointed to the "textile foaming and finishing capability that are the gold standards of the industry." Other new pluses are added bleaching, calendaring, inspection and shipping capacities.

Fradin also noted, "Our new equipment runs twice the speed of its predecessors, and with greater use of energy conservation, and greater first-quality performance than ever before."

The changeover will begin Aug. 27 with a winding down of the plant here. By year end the move is expected to be completed.
