New York – Aided in part by favorable year-over-year- comparisons, same-store sales last week rose 3.6%, the Johnson Redbook reported today.
Discounter comps jumped 4.1%, while department stores record a 2.7% comp gian.
Sales of women’s apparel trended up across all price points, said Catlin Levis, Rebook analyst. Lawn & garden products also did solid business.
“A number of retailers reported an improvement in business over the week as temperatures in most parts of the country turned warmer; St. Patricks’ Day promotions and pent-up demand also helped sales,” she said.
