Mayor Anoints "Home Textiles Market Weeks"

White Plains, N.Y. —

Recognizing the New York Home Textiles Market Week exhibits and events held in conjunction with the New York International Gift Fair, mayor Michael Bloomberg issued a Mayoral Proclamation noting the economic importance of Home Textiles Market Weeks.

The two 2009 weeks — Jan. 23-29 and Aug. 14-20 at the Javits Center, Piers, 7W NY and 230 Fifth Ave. — showcase some 500 suppliers of high end home textiles products.

"Home Textiles Market Week is recognized by the industry as a valuable resource for independent specialty retailers and better home textiles suppliers and it is wonderful to have similar recognition from the city," said Penny Sikalis, vp at GLM, the show producer.

The events are separate from the traditional market weeks at the major showrooms, which are known as HFPA New York Home Fashions Markets. In 2009, those two events, sponsored by the Home Fashion Products Association, will be held March 9-13 and September 14-18.
