Biseta Decorative Pillows Named Best New Product

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 4/17/2006 12:00:00 AM

A pair of Italian-made silk dec pillows sporting classic and jazz-age designs won Best of Show honors for the Biseta company (Lurate Caccivo, Italy), as the results were announced in the Best New Product Awards competition at the New York Home Textiles Show.

The Portofino floral design offered a lustrous, deep-toned salon ambience, while New York shouted a brassy and brash, cubist note. By celebrating two kinds of pleasure, the large format pillows spoke in one voice about luxury, Como style.

The other winners were on display at the Javits Convention Center:

Bed

Sferra (Edison, N.J.) “Chantal” and “Darcy” Cottage Collection bed ensembles made of Italian and Egyptian cotton sateen jacquard.

Bath

Forza & Company (Berkeley, Calif.) Ottoman Two Colours Collection towels, hand-woven on 125 year-old jacquard machines from yarn-dyed organic, first-harvest cotton — a 17th century tradition.

Kitchen/Table

George Henry, Ltd. (Shelter Island Heights, N.Y.) Double Flower contemporary hand-embroidered placemat, napkin, cocktail napkin and guest towel set, made from 100% European linen.

Home Accessories

Aviva Stanoff Design Studio (Brooklyn, N.Y.) decorative pillows from the Vegas Collection — feather twin pillows using real feathers as part of the 'velvet memory' process which is unique to this studio.

Home Apparel

Altinbasak Tekstil (Denizli, Turkey) Splash-Flashy double-faced terry bathrobes and towels whose unique weaving process results in fibers which appear to be multi-colored.

A panel of editors selected the entries based on innovative design, product solution, aesthetic appeal, creativity and new material or technology. This year's judges were: Karen Chambers, editor-in-chief, LDB Interior Textiles; James Mammarella, managing editor, Home Textiles Today; Rosamaria Mancini, senior editor, HFN; and AnnMarie Marano, associate editor, Fabrics & Furnishings International.
