NEW YORK —
Two well-known designers debuted their respective home collections during mini-market week. Susan Sargent is known for her use of bold colors in home textiles, while Nicole Miller has earned a reputation for her different take on traditional clothing designs. (See related stories, HTT Feb. 4)
The Susan Sargent Home Collection and the Nicole Miller Home Collection were unveiled by Springs Industries and Revman Industries, respectively, and were highlighted by press events and retailer showings.
Sargent's collection encompassed 15 adult beds, five juvenile beds and two baby beds with a coordinating array of bathroom accessories, towels, top-of-bed and rugs. In a different twist, and providing consumers the opportunity to expand on their own, Springs will also offer a coordinating signature line of fabric by-the-yard. All feature Sargent's signature bold colors and are paired with her original designs.
"We wanted her personality and perspective to be brought to our company. We wanted her to be as vivid and bright as she always is," said Nancy Webster, vp of creative development for Springs.
Miller's initial foray into the world of home textiles also includes bed and bath, but takes a step away from traditional home textiles with the introduction of home storage products such as shoe cubes, hanging shelves, ironing board covers and garment bags.
Said Rich Roman, ceo and president of Revman, "She's an original and very distinctive. We definitely wanted someone who was not afraid to make a statement."
