New York —
Services were held here earlier this month for Helen Galland, 83, an iconic retailing executive who also headed Wamsutta Trucraft, a division of home textiles supplier M. Lowenstein, from 1975 to 1980.
She began her career in retailing at Lord & Taylor when the company was run by the legendary retailing executive Dorothy Shaver. After her return to the retail sector, where she became president of the now defunct Bonwit Teller, she started her consulting business in 1983.
Galland was known for her merchandising acumen and was active in promoting fashion at retail, women's roles in the workforce, and academic activities.
She is survived by three children and four grandchildren.
We would love your feedback!
