Int'l visitors gear up for fall NY show

Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 10/7/2002 12:00:00 AM

International exhibitors will represent nearly 40 percent, or 150, of the 350 exhibitors at the upcoming New York Home Textiles Show taking place Oct. 11 to 14 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center here. In all more than 800 lines of bed, bath, linen and home accessories products will be showcased at the event.

The 22nd semi-annual edition of the show will feature government-sponsored pavilions from China, Israel, South Africa, and, for the first time, Japan. In addition, 90 independent companies will participate from Bangladesh, Belgium, Canada, China, Columbia, France, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kenya, New Zealand, Nepal, Pakistan, Peru, Portugal, Republic Of South Africa, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom, as well as some 60 businesses exhibiting under the auspices of government and international trade associations.

"In this competitive retail climate, in which trends toward home products continue to rise, opportunities abound for retailers delivering unique and innovative home fashions," said Penny Sikalis, vp and group manager for George Little Management, which runs the show. "The substantial number of international manufacturers, along with the numerous U.S. companies at the fall New York Home Textiles Show, is a positive business barometer and bodes well for a successful market."
