Home Depot expands its online sales to total 48 states
Since announcing in early April that it would offer 20,000 online products to customers in five states — Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Arizona — The Home Depot has expanded that reach to the 48 mainland states. "Through the month of April, we have leveraged our existing Internet investment by rolling out additional catalogs to serve the remainder of the contiguous U.S.," said Ron Griffin, chief information officer. The products offered vary by region. The Home Depot continues the full-line, online product availability of more than 50,000 products to customers in Las Vegas, San Antonio and Austin, TX.
Restoration Hardware closes largest store
Restoration Hardware recently closed its downtown New York location on Prince Street, the company's largest store at 14,000 square feet. Only one-year-old, the store "wasn't living up to fiscal expectations," said Dave Glassman, director of marketing, adding that Restoration had a "great opportunity" to get out of the situation. "People were just not buying enough of the larger-ticket items." The Flatiron location, however, continues to do "wonderful" business, he said.
