The Rug Market Closes Atlanta Showroom

Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 12/17/2007 12:00:00 AM

After exhibiting for more than 15 years in Atlanta's AmericasMart, fashion area and accent rug importer The Rug Market is closing its permanent showroom, space 5-A-8 in Building 1 here.

It is, however, still showcasing its gifts and juvenile lines in the Butler Group showroom in space 1212 in AmericasMart Building 2.

Mike Shabtai, ceo of Los Angeles-based The Rug Market, explained his company has decided to “expand and concentrate our efforts in the Las Vegas, High Point, Dallas and Los Angeles markets…Regretfully we are closing our doors since business is shifting to other markets.”

The company is “opening bigger windows of opportunity and growth in our corporate showrooms” at the floor covering markets mentioned to “allow for a more comprehensive showcase” of The Rug Market's area, accent and kids' style rugs.

“As the market changes, we may reconsider Atlanta in the future,” Shabtai said.
