Goodlettsville, Tenn. – Over the next year, discount department store chain Dollar General plans to open 600 new units and create about 5,000 new jobs to support the stores, the retailer said this week.
The news comes on the heels of 4,000 newly created jobs at Dollar General, which currently operates more than 8,800 units in 35 states and employs about 78,000 people.
“We have exciting plans for 2010, which include expanding our work force in many suburban, rural and urban communities,” said Bob Ravener, svp and chief people officer.
